    Course Project

    Autonomous Maze Escape Robot

    An autonomy stack that drives a TurtleBot 4 through an unknown maze and out the exit — no prior map, all decisions made in real time on board.

    • Engineered a Python/ROS2 autonomy stack enabling a TurtleBot 4 to navigate and exit an unknown maze, with real-time obstacle avoidance driven by OpenCV camera-feed processing.
    • Built a perception and mapping module fusing camera detections with wheel odometry to identify, count, and localize unique AprilTag markers throughout the maze.

    LuteHacks 2026

    Turn Your Daily Steps Into a Mission

    A mobile app that tracks your steps in real time and recommends nearby places worth walking to — steps earned, distance, and walking time per destination, with one-tap directions. Built for the LuteHacks Health & Wellness track.

    • Built a React Native (Expo) app pairing live Apple HealthKit pedometer data with a Flask backend that surfaces nearby destinations via the Google Places and Distance Matrix APIs.
    • Personalized step estimates by deriving stride length from the user's height, converting each destination's walking distance into steps earned toward the daily goal.
    • Shipped custom onboarding with guided Health and Location permission flows, a live map backdrop, a collapsible weekly activity chart, and Apple/Google Maps handoff via action sheet.

    • Engineered custom ROS2 nodes in Python/C++ integrating YOLO (Ultralytics) human detection to trigger multimodal social cues — auditory sweeps and addressable LED arrays — with obstacle avoidance and odometry-based course correction.
